To be eligible to perform in the jazz band, the student must be enrolled in a band course and be able to play at an advanced level. Jazz band is not a separate class, so members must maintain all the requirements for their respective concert band while putting in extra practice hours to perform the jazz charts.
Jazz Band members must attend evening rehearsals in preparation for performances. The Jazz Band performs at the annual Jazz Night in March, sponsored by the Fort Mill High School Band Boosters. The Jazz Band also performs at community functions in town and at some of the band concerts.
